The 12th edition of the Smart Cities International Conference (SCIC), held in December 2024, centered on the theme “Resilient Communities Empowered by Collective Intelligence” and brought together distinguished scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to explore how resilience, technology, and civic engagement converge in the evolution of smart cities. Organized by the Smart-EDU Hub within the Faculty of Public Administration at the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration, Bucharest, Romania, the conference showcased a diverse range of contributions addressing digital transformation, participatory governance, sustainable urban development, and the role of artificial intelligence in strengthening public institutions. Special attention was given to cybersecurity strategies for urban ecosystems, innovative models of citizen engagement, and the integration of data-driven tools for crisis management. The discussions further highlighted the balance between technological advancement and ethical responsibility, as well as the opportunities created by collective intelligence in shaping inclusive, adaptive, and future-oriented urban communities.
